- Confucian University (Head: Professor Kim Dong-min) Confucian Philosophy and Cultural Contents Research Institute selected "National Heritage Administration's Important Record Heritage Local Service 2024-2026 Academic Research Service" (project cost 1.65 billion won) The Confucian University of Korea (Head: Professor Kim Dong-min) Confucian Philosophy and Cultural Contents Research Institute (Research Director: Professor Kim Dong-min) was selected as the "Important Records Heritage Korean Service Project" promoted by the National Heritage Administration. The project period is from 2024 to 2026, and the total project cost is 1.65 billion won. Based on the experience of planning and developing Confucian cultural contents for a total of 30 million characters of 145 types, including the interpretation of Confucian scriptures left by Korean Confucian scholars such as Toegyejeonseo (http://ygc.skku.edu ) and Yulgokjip (http://ygc.skku.edu ), the project has been selected for the project following 2018-2020 (3 years) and 2021-2023 (3 years). ▲ Kim Dong-min, president of the College of Confucian Studies The project will be carried out for a total of three years from 2024 to 2026, with the total project cost of 550 million won per year, a total of 1.65 billion won, and 40 people participating in the project, which is a large project that is hard to find in the humanities field. The research team of this project group is a PhD and graduate student produced by our university of study, and the advisory group and the members of the specialists of the school, the liberal arts university, the East Asian Academy, and the top experts in related fields. The selection of this project is a very encouraging achievement in that it was an opportunity to reaffirm internally and externally that Sungkyunkwan University's humanities, especially Confucianism and Oriental Studies, are in a leading position in traditional Korean studies. The National Heritage Administration's Important Records Heritage Localization Project aims to enhance the public's understanding of traditional culture and lay the foundation for content development and academic development based on traditional culture by authenticating and translating important Korean heritage recorded in Chinese characters among state-designated cultural properties (national treasure, treasure, etc.). The local achievements of this project will be provided free of charge on the National Heritage Portal of the National Heritage Administration (http://www.heritage.go.kr ). In particular, this project includes the collection of documents of Pilam Seowon, the "Seowon of Korea," which is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, "Bokbu Yumok," Lee Hyung-sang's work, "Jeongan Yeo-bun," and Kim Seong-il's predecessor, "Jwajeonjikhae at the end of Chugwarye-si, Jwa-jeon-gujikhae." These cultural heritages are evaluated as essential materials for studying not only Confucian culture but also all aspects of traditional culture, such as history, education, economy, and life of the time. Professor Kim Dong-min, the head of research, said, "This institute was selected for the three consecutive state-designated national cultural properties from 2018 to 2026 and carries out the national territory project with a project cost of about 5 billion won for nine years. As a large-scale national project that has no precedent in the humanities field in Korea, it showed the status and capabilities of Confucian universities in the fields of Confucianism, traditional studies, and classics at home and abroad. This project plays an important role in informing the public of the value of the country's national treasure and treasure-class record cultural heritage by concentrating research capabilities and creating optimal results by excellent researchers and large-scale professional advisory groups in related fields. In addition, it is expected that the successive generation of academics and young researchers will participate together to accumulate research capabilities and enhance their ability to carry out national projects, thereby fostering future talents in traditional academic and classical fields," he said. ▲Treasure Lee Hwang Pil-jeok - Teacher's Pilgrimage and Teacher's Memorandum ▲Treasure Kim Seong-il's Family's Exhibition – The end of the spring and autumn ceremony specializing in drinking, left and right This research institute was established in April 2017 as a research institute under the University of Confucianism with the aim of leading the reinterpretation of Confucian scriptures and the modernization of Confucian research. This research institute is composed of four divisions: the origin of East Asian civilization, the Confucian cultural content, the Confucian ethics and character education, and the Confucian scriptures interpretation. In addition to the "Important Record Heritage Korean Language Project," this research institute is currently carrying out the "Educational Literature Korean Language Project" of the Korea Arts Center of the Korea Institute for the Promotion of Confucian Culture.

- The Confucian Philosophy and Cultural Contents Research Institute of this school (Head: Professor Kim Dong-min) was selected as the "2024 Korean Academy of Arts and Arts Center Academic Research Service" (Research Director: Jeong Byeong-seop, Director of Research) promoted by the Korea Institute for the Promotion of Confucian Culture. In order to promote and inherit Korean Confucian culture, it is necessary to translate the core Korean pre-study literature. Running from April 2024 to December 2024, the "2024 Korean Pre-study Center's Korean Academic Research Service" is a project to "discover the popularization and modern value of Korean pre-study materials" and "accumulate data on the archive of Korean studies and expand the base of Korean studies." Portrait of Uam Song Si-yeol (尤庵 宋 烈, 1607-1689) Source: Korean National Culture Department "Wooam Teacher's Anthology (尤菴 集) Volume 172" "The 問答 of Salute" In this project, the original text of "問答 尤菴" (Volumes 172-177), written by Wooam Song Si-yeol (1607-1689), a key figure in the history of Joseon's history in the 17th century, is inputted, marked, proofed, translated, and released. Through this national service project, "Salute Question and Answer" will be introduced in Korean for the first time. "Salute Question and Answer" is an important material for understanding the 17th-century liturgical debate and social and ideological aspects of the time, with Song Si-yeol asking questions about writers such as Min 閔泰 (1640-1692), Hyun Yi-gyu (1641-1706). It is also called "Salute 疑" and consists of 13 volumes of "Salute," which asked the meaning of the scriptures, and 11 volumes of "疑," which asked the meaning of the scriptures. "Salute," the subject of this project, follows the system of "Garye," "序," "冠," "Congratulations," "昏," "喪," "Congratulations," "恤," "Congratulations," "儀," "Congratulations," "玄以規," and "national 嫡庶," and based on "Congratulations," it broadly cites examples of China and Korea as well as scriptures such as "Letship" and "班祔." In particular, the questions in "Tongrye" reflect the question of what to do if the posthumous affairs are cut off, the problem of the 班祔 (반), the reality that there was no economic margin, and the distinction between men and women or women (嫡庶) reflect one aspect of social change in the 17th century. The Korean translation of this book is essential to the Korean translation ability of classical literature and the collaboration of experts familiar with various examples, predictions, and Neo-Confucianism. Through the selection of this project, the research and Korean language capabilities of the Confucian Philosophy and Cultural Contents Research Institute at the University of Confucianism were recognized externally. The Confucian Philosophy and Cultural Contents Research Institute aims to discover the socio-cultural background, popularization, and modern value of Korean arts and arts materials at that time through the first Korean translation of "Salye Q&A", and to provide data that can grasp not only the systematic view of Song Si-yeol's prediction, but also the debate about art at that time as a whole. Furthermore, the top experts in the field, the Kukyeokjin, intend to discover the value of this book through a sense of mission and sincere business performance, and further expand the base of Korean arts and arts research. In addition, this project is expected to serve as an opportunity for Confucian universities to improve their ability to authenticate and translate Korean Confucian literature. The completed Korean translation will be a public service through the pre-study archive of the Korea Confucian Culture Promotion Agency in the future, and will be published in a book. The institute has been carrying out the Cultural Heritage Administration's Important Record Heritage Korean Project since 2018 to enhance the public's understanding of traditional culture and lay the foundation for the development of traditional culture-based contents and academic development by translating Korean important record heritage recorded in Chinese characters among state-designated cultural properties. Currently, professors and doctoral-level emerging researchers and graduate students from international universities belong to each department and are actively engaged in research activities.

- The Confucian Philosophy and Cultural Contents Research Institute selected the project "Study on Establishing a Comprehensive Plan for the Development of Traditional Culture in Sungkyunkwan, Hyanggyo, and Seowon." Confucian philosophy and cultural contents were selected by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for the "Study on Establishing a Comprehensive Plan for Traditional Cultural Development of Sungkyunkwan, Hyanggyo, and Seowon" project (Research Director: Professor Ahn Seung-woo), and the total project cost is 190 million won. This research project, which will run from April 2024 to December 2024, aims to establish a comprehensive plan for the systematic succession and development of traditional cultures of Sungkyunkwan, Hyanggyo, and Seowon in accordance with the Act on the Succession, Development, and Support of Traditional Culture of Sungkyunkwan, Hyanggyo, and Seowon (abbreviated as the Sungkyunkwan, Hyanggyo, and Seowon Act, enacted on July 25, 2023, and implemented on January 26, 2024). The Sungkyunkwan Judo Association (Chairman: Choi Young-gap) will participate in this study as a cooperative organization. In the course of conducting this study, it is expected that Sungkyunkwan University Confucian School, Sungkyunkwan Judo Association, and local Hyanggyo and Seowon, which are the subjects of Korean Confucianism, will meet together to talk and communicate. In addition, it will serve as an opportunity to collect the people's expectations of what role Korean Confucianism can play in our time, based on Sungkyunkwan, Hyanggyo, and Seowon, which remain as buildings until now and still perform ancestral rites, education, and edification functions. Taehakcheop (太 稧帖), "Bangungdo (泮宮 painting)" (1747) (Head of the Seoul Museum of History, Seoul Metropolitan Government's Tangible Cultural Property No. 174): It is the oldest visual representation of the structure and layout of Sungkyunkwan's buildings, and it makes us think about how long Sungkyunkwan, located at the front gate of our school, has been preserved. This research project is based on the 「Sungkyunkwan, Hyanggyo, and Seowon Act」, which has been in effect since the beginning of this year. This decree was enacted to contribute to the succession of traditional culture and the development of national culture by systematically inheriting, developing, and supporting the tangible and intangible cultures of Seonggyungwan, Hyanggyo, and Seowon. Seonggyungwan refers to a national educational institution in the form of a national university established during the Goryeo and Joseon periods to spread study abroad and to cultivate bureaucrats. Hyanggyo is a government-academic educational institution established in the provinces to educate students about studying abroad in the Goryeo and Joseon periods, and there are 234 Hyanggyo across the country. Seowon is a private educational institution established during the Joseon Dynasty to hold ancestral rites to Seonhyeon and educate students, and it is estimated that there are currently about 900 seowon. In the reality that Seonggyungwan, Hyanggyo, and Seowon, which still exist next to us with a long history and tradition, have not been systematically provided for administrative and financial support under long-term policies. Through the implementation of laws and the establishment of a comprehensive plan, it is possible to organize the developmental succession plan of the traditional culture and traditional philosophy of Seonggyungwan, Hyanggyo, and Seowon, and its present significance at the national and social level. For the substantial implementation of the "Sungkyunkwan, Hyanggyo, and Seowon Act", this task will be conducted from a study on the significance of tangible and intangible traditional cultural resources owned by Sungkyunkwan, Hyanggyo, and Seowon, to basic surveys and policy environment analysis studies necessary for the establishment of policies related to Sungkyunkwan, Hyanggyo, and Seowon, and based on this, research on the development of a comprehensive plan vision and promotion strategy for mid- to long-term five-year (2025-2029) and detailed project development will be conducted. As a central institution of Korean Confucianism research, education, and practice, it is expected that Sungkyunkwan University's study abroad university will be an opportunity to draw practical policies and support measures at the national level, including detailed comprehensive plans and projects for the succession and development of Sungkyunkwan, Hyanggyo, and Seowon by compiling domestic and international networks with a sense of mission for the future of Korean Confucianism. The Confucian Philosophy and Cultural Contents Research Institute at the University of Confucianism has won various research projects to inherit and develop traditional Korean Confucian culture, such as the Cultural Heritage Administration's Important Record Heritage Korean Station Project and the Korea Arts Center's Yehakseo Korean Station Project.

- Kang Kyung-hyun, Professor of Foreign Studies University, won the Yongjae Shinjin Academic Award
- Kang Kyung-hyun, an assistant professor of Oriental Studies, won the Yongjae Shinjin Academic Award at the 30th Yongjae Awards held at Yonsei University on March 7 (Thursday). The Yongjae Academic Award was established in 1995, the 100th anniversary of Yongjae's birthday, to commemorate the academic virtues of Dr. Baek Nak-jun, who served as Minister of Culture and Education and president of Yonsei University, and marks the 30th anniversary this year. Every year, it has been awarded to scholars who have made outstanding achievements in Korean studies and related fields, and since 2020, it has also presented the Yongjae Shinjin Academic Award. Professor Kang Kyung-hyun's book "The Philosophy of Toegye Yi Hwang's Realization of 至 and Self-Completion" (Hyean, 2022) by Professor Kang Kyung-hyun, who won the Yongjae Shinjin Academic Award, is a study that analyzes that Toegye Yi Hwang's philosophy, the great peak of Joseon Confucianism, revolves around the concept and thinking of "ri" and ultimately aims to realize 至. This study reveals that the basis of Toegye's philosophy has a value-oriented personality and suggests its implications. In other words, Toegye Yi Hwang's philosophy aims to provide a moral human basis, and thus comes to the conclusion that Toegye's philosophy is a self-completing discipline that realizes human nature. This study, which faithfully describes the spiritual foundation of Toegye's philosophy while aiming for social practice, stands out more because it contains an attempt to seriously seek humanities reflection and answers. His original interpretation was highly praised for expanding the discussion on Toegye in the field of Korean Confucian philosophy, and it is expected that he will take further steps as he is deepening his research on studying in Joseon and East Asian Neo-Confucianism through Toegye and 16th-century Joseon people and thoughts.
