- Kang Kyung-hyun, Professor of Foreign Studies University, won the Yongjae Shinjin Academic Award NEW
- Kang Kyung-hyun, an assistant professor of Oriental Studies, won the Yongjae Shinjin Academic Award at the 30th Yongjae Awards held at Yonsei University on March 7 (Thursday). The Yongjae Academic Award was established in 1995, the 100th anniversary of Yongjae's birthday, to commemorate the academic virtues of Dr. Baek Nak-jun, who served as Minister of Culture and Education and president of Yonsei University, and marks the 30th anniversary this year. Every year, it has been awarded to scholars who have made outstanding achievements in Korean studies and related fields, and since 2020, it has also presented the Yongjae Shinjin Academic Award. Professor Kang Kyung-hyun's book "The Philosophy of Toegye Yi Hwang's Realization of 至 and Self-Completion" (Hyean, 2022) by Professor Kang Kyung-hyun, who won the Yongjae Shinjin Academic Award, is a study that analyzes that Toegye Yi Hwang's philosophy, the great peak of Joseon Confucianism, revolves around the concept and thinking of "ri" and ultimately aims to realize 至. This study reveals that the basis of Toegye's philosophy has a value-oriented personality and suggests its implications. In other words, Toegye Yi Hwang's philosophy aims to provide a moral human basis, and thus comes to the conclusion that Toegye's philosophy is a self-completing discipline that realizes human nature. This study, which faithfully describes the spiritual foundation of Toegye's philosophy while aiming for social practice, stands out more because it contains an attempt to seriously seek humanities reflection and answers. His original interpretation was highly praised for expanding the discussion on Toegye in the field of Korean Confucian philosophy, and it is expected that he will take further steps as he is deepening his research on studying in Joseon and East Asian Neo-Confucianism through Toegye and 16th-century Joseon people and thoughts.

- [General] SKKU CCECC Professor Na Jong-seok's book is selected Sejong books
- Professor Na Jong-seok's book, "The Search for great unity Democracy and the 21st Century's Critical Theory," which was published in April by the Center for Critical Study and Modern study of Confucian classics under the Institute of Confucian Culture (Director Kim Do-il) at Sungkyunkwan University, was selected as the recommended book for the academic section of Sejong Book in 2023. The Confucian Culture Research Institute, whose vision is to discover the ideology and culture that humanity will pursue together through the modern reinterpretation of Confucian ideas, was selected as a support project for the Humanities and Social Research Institute of the Korea Research Foundation in 2021 and established the "Criticism and Modern Study of Confucian classics Research Center". This research center is seeking a way to re-invent the Confucian values directly connected to modern society in a situation where traditional study of Confucian classics has declined, and to criticize our reality through this. As part of that, They are exploring traditional virtues that can be reconstructed as citizenship and community values realized based on them. To this end, the center has held various academic conferences such as "Humility" while exploring Confucian virtues, such as "Methodological Exploration of Modern Study of Confucian classics ", which explored the direction of modern study of Confucian classics , and "Harmony on Order: Ideology and Practice of Military New Government", which examines the possibilities contained in the ideal of Confucian harmony, and is preparing for an academic conference in which philosophers from the East and the West talk under the theme of "Solidarity and Harmony". In addition, various academic exchanges are being created through the planning of the "Modern Study of Confucian classics Master Editorial Group" series, which invites and discusses prominent domestic and foreign scholars as lecturers. 『Great unity democracy and the search for a 21st-century Confucian critical theory』 is a work that was opened to the public as a result of the Center for Research on Critical Confucianism and Modern Study of Confucian classics , which is making such efforts, and its author is Professor Na Jong-seok, a co-researcher at the center. Professor Na Jong-seok, who, as a Hegel philosophy major, has explored the psychological and historical conditions of the development of Korean society without staying in Western philosophy, has made the direction of the research center an outstanding research result. In this book, the author describes modern and contemporary Korean history from the dual perspective of democratic transformation and dynamic transformation of the Confucian tradition of Joseon society, and systematically develops a new critical theory suitable for our time by reflecting on the spirit and ideology that drove such history philosophically. In this regard, the center held a book symposium commemorating the publication of the research book in June 23 to conduct in-depth book reviews and discussions with various scholars. The selection of Sejong books is expected to serve as an opportunity to further publicize the academic originality and excellence of this book and further expand its academic contribution. For more information on the various events and plans being held by the Book Information and Research Center, visit the website of the Confucian Cultural Research Institute (ygmh.skku.edu ) or the website of the Center for Non-Study and Modern Study of Confucian classics (swb.skku.edu/ccecc) ). ※ Writer Introduction: Na Jong seok He graduated from Yonsei University with a degree in philosophy and received a doctorate in philosophy from Germany with his thesis on Hegel and Vico. He served as president of the Society of Social Studies and Philosophy Research and chairman of the Korean Hegel Society, and is currently vice president of the Korean Philosophy Association and a professor at Yonsei University's Institute of Liberal Arts and Korean Studies.
