This course will focus on helping those students with interest in Classical Chinese develop research skills and information searching skills on the field. Related areas of this course include bibliographies, listing courses, woodblock-printed books, proofreading, translation, books relating letters, books on similar topics, and comprehensive collections. Throughout the course students will observe the main publications related to those fields, and analyze the history and achievements of basic Korean classics in regions including China, Japan, and the West.

Standardization of Chinese classics text is very important for translation and scholarly research. Itincludes philological examination of various editions, clarification of the sequence of different editions, development of the standard edition, analyses of discrepancies among different editions, proofreading and correction. The standardization also requires in arranging each material according to events, period and writing styles. This course examines such processes and helps standardize Chinese classics texts for further scholarly translation.

Understanding of intellectual history of Korea is essential for our research of classic materials. When selecting materials for translation, it is also important to make a scholarly assessment about the originality andvalue of each material. This course examines the intellectual history of Korea and discusses how to use our knowledge of it for future translation of classic materials.
WIS5074 Data Analytics in Action with Python 3 6 Major Master/Doctor 1-4 Interaction Science - No
This course uses Python programming language for practicing examples of descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, regression, clustering analysis, as well as machine learning and deep learning. Its focus is more on applications than theory building. Students are encouraged to present the examples they found, and instructor and other students are doing questions and answers. This study is a social science-based trans-disciplinary course, rather than just a methodology or programming course.
