Q1. Why is retaking courses taken more than 4 semesters ago not allowed?
A1. It is banned to prevent any disadvantage to junior students taking the same course with senior students that are retaking it. If you want to retake a course offered in the spring semester of your first year, you need to do it by the spring semester of your third year (including the summer semester of the third year).
Q2. Are there any specific courses that are not allowed to be retaken?
A2. No, there is not. However, students are not able to retake the course if the course code has been changed or closed.
Q3. Can I retake a course offered during the summer/winter semester?
A3. Yes you can, but the majority of courses offered in the summer/winter semester are from fields of the liberal arts or fundamentals which are more appropriate for intensive learing. In addition, the course offering can be varied each summer/winter semester.
Q4. I got an even lower grade than the original. Can I make a choice between the original grade and the grade from retaking the course?
A4. No, You cannot. Personal selection of grades can undermine the stability and equality of the grading system. The grade from retaking a course becomes your final grade.
Q5. I failed when I retook the course. What will be my final grade?
A5. If you fail the retaken course (get an F), it will not replace the grade you earned originally and you cannot retake the same course again.
Q6. Is there any limit regarding how many courses a student can retake?
A6. You can retake a maximum of 2 courses per semester.
Q7. Can I retake the course the very next semester?
A7. Yes, You can.
Q8. Can I get a trascript with a new grade from retaking just after it is announced on the GLS?
A8. It usually taked 2~3 days to be shown on a trascript from the final annoucement.
Q9. The retaken course has the same course code, but a different category (Its category has been changed from general major to core major). Can I still retake it?
A9. You can retake it as a major course. Please consider your remaing requirements for graduation before making a decision to retake a course.
